Archives from Morro Bay

Morro Bay

Another from the archives of 2004. This was taken during a weekend workshop down in Morro Bay. I never processed the image when I took it. Now, I like it after applying the Orton technique to reduce the weird noise pattern introduced by the fog.

Tomorrow, I hope to go out to Sunol and gather a few new images. It has been very hectic doing the Modernbook Fusion 19 show and getting ready for the workshop.

Today, I visited the San Jose Museum of Modern Art show. They have the Escher show going on. I had only seen his work in books. The real experience was much more expressive and impressive. Oddly, I really liked his early work where he did a series of Woodcut of Genesis.

It has been a difficult few weeks. Yesterday, we lost our beautiful little dog, Bocifus. She was a gorgeous blonde Cairn Terrier with black points. We adopted Boci when she was 10 years old. Although, Boci thought that she was about 4 years old at the time. The first nite in our hourse, Bocifus was running around and bashing the Booda. A Booda is a small stuffed toy for dogs. Bashing the Booda is where she lets out a little roar while flipping her head. This results sends the Booda flying across the room or over the top of the footboard of the bed and a variety of other places. She was a wonderful little dog and I wish that we had more time with her. Bocifus, I hope that you are bounding through grass, charging at ground squirrels, bashing your Booda, and sleeping on your sheepskin in peace. Chip and I miss you greatly.

Archive Raiding Continues...

Without any shooting opportunities until this weekend, I have to do more archive raiding. Pretty soon, I will be reduced to raiding my very first images from 2003.

Well, I have to do serious archive raiding on this one. I have not been out shooting for about 6 weeks and am running very low on stock.

This is another from the Sunol archives. First, this has been a lost week because of picking up a nasty bug causing cough, sore throat and fever. I even went to the Doctor for help because this weekend I was attending the Maggie Taylor Workshop by Digitalstop. I made the workshop and had a great time. Maggie had detailed handouts of her workflow and recipes. Even more interesting to me, Maggie went through the construction of a dozen plus of her popular images. What a great workshop.

Tonite, we had the opening of Fusion 19 Show. Wow, the turnout was amazing. About halfway through the evening, I know that 12 prints had sold already. I personally have not sold but still have a month to go. I learned that I am not a very good at talking about my work, but I had a wonderful nite. Chip stayed outside the door to avoid the hordes of people.

Here is my alternate version of this scene.

This one is very similar to Sunol #10. I prefer #10 at least tonite. As a factoid, I bought my Canon 5D a year ago. Over that year, I took 8713 photos using the Canon 5D. That does not include my infrared shots.
