Happy Memorial Day. Chip, I, and the dogs had a lazy day. We went out to Sunol for a walk and that was our biggest activity.

Made another go at the tree roots from a few days ago. I still am not satisfied so will try to return in the next few days before the water level and light changes too much.

Taken tonite out in Sunol. Chip took the dogs for a walk along the road. I found this wonderful tree. This is 5 stitched photos and bracketed the exposures. The mosquitoes were fierce. The entire time, a raven was scolding me from somewhere up in the branches.

I visit this pair of oaks frequently. Here is a High-Dynamic Range image because you can see tht the light was very harsh.

This is just upstream from yesterday’s image of the tree roots. In fact if you look closely at the upper left edge, you can see some of those tree roots.

Went out this morning to Sunol and waded around in Alameda Creek. While in the middle of the creek, I heard rustling at the truck crossing. Turns out a flock of turkeys was wading across at the truck crossing. Guess they did not want to fly across.

I waded into the creek and soaked my hiking boots for this shot. I also stirred up a couple hundred of hungry mosquitoes.

This is Whalers Cove in Point Lobos. This picture has a Great Blue Heron in the lower-left corner although it is very small in the image. We saw seals and their pups, cormorants, but no otters.

Baby Seals at Point Lobos

Today, Chip and I went down to Point Lobos. We had gorgeous tourist weather - meaning bright sun and warm temperatures. So, it was next the best day for shooting. However, this is time that the baby seals were born. This is Blue Fish Cove and there were at six baby seals playing in the surf. These guys were having a hard time hauling out onto the beach. Eventually, one of the mother seals came over to help out.

At Whaler’s Cove, we saw two babies chasing a duck all over the cove. For some reason, the duck did not want to fly away. Instead, these seals herded that little duck all over the place just like I have seen border collies do with sheep.

Bodie Starts It & Maizy Finishes It

Some days, I work at home. Many times, I sit in bed with my laptop on a lap desk. The dogs were very mellow all day. All of a sudden, Bodie gets fired up and goes for Maizy.

Maizy returns fire. They wrestled around few a few minutes before they rocket launched off the bed and went zooming up and down the hallway. They use my runner rugs as braking zones leaving the rugs all bunched up in their wake.

Yes, these are infrared images shot wide-open with my 50 mm f/1.4 lens.

During the field trip for the Vincent Versace workshop, we visited Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands for sunset. After parking the car, we walked through tunnels for the other side of the hill. From our of nowhere, this wonderful cello starting playing. As I rounded the corner, I saw the musician playing for the sunset. This is why I love living in the San Francisco bay area.

Another from this weekend’s workshop with Vincent Versace. This is in the Presidio. A tip from Vincent. A pattern is always interesting but a pattern interrupted is much more interesting.

Taken this weekend up in the Presidio. This visit was part of the Vincent Versace workshop. I will have a lot of tips to share as soon as I digest them.
